Good value for money

I've wanted an insert parting tool for a long time but it's expensive. Then I saw this one and the price was right and it comes with 10 inserts. Cuts aluminium, brass and steel well.

  • Can't remember

Good tool and carbide for the price.

I use this tool on my South Bend A model lathe and have no problem cutting aluminium, brass, titanium and steel. The max DOC size is just over .600 so it doesn't make it to 1.25 inch stock. Still a useful addition to the home store.

I was really excited to get this tool as I was tired of working with HSS cutting tools. On arrival it appeared to be a good, well designed tool. Used it for the first time yesterday. I cut 1018 steel. I used cutting fluid and light tool pressure and made a .002" diameter cut. The tool entered the workpiece about 0.060" with no vibration or other problems and suddenly broke just behind and below the carbide insert. I believe the steel making up the tool was too hard in this area and became…
