Review on OSCARBIDE Indexable Grooving Parting QA08R 20 Cutting Tools by Rovy Oppeneer

I was really excited to get this tool as I was tired of working with HSS cutting tools. On arrival it appeared to be a good, well designed tool. Used it for the first time yesterday. I cut 1018 steel. I used cutting fluid and light tool pressure and made a .002" diameter cut. The tool entered the workpiece about 0.060" with no vibration or other problems and suddenly broke just behind and below the carbide insert. I believe the steel making up the tool was too hard in this area and became brittle and broke like a piece of glass. I now have a box of 10 GTN-2 carbide inserts with no tools to use them. I bought another parting tool from another company and had no problems. I really wanted to like this tool.
