I have bought this heater twice and both broke within a year. Just thought maybe I got a bad block but two in a row doesn't make it worth buying again. I always unplugged my heater before changing the water and I never hit it on anything etc. It's a cheap price for a heater, but I settled on the Aqueon Pro, which is about twice the price ($30 at Revain). ). Because of the solid build quality, I'll be using the newer Aqueon Pro to see if it lasts longer than the ViaAqua heaters. I tried contacting customer service a second time for a replacement but I couldn't contact ViaAqua customer service so I can't say if they provide adequate service or not. Pros: - Cheap shipping Revain Prime Cons: - Both units I bought didn't even last a year (the light stays on to indicate the unit is heating up, but the water temp hasn't risen at all, regardless of whether the temperature was adjusted to max) - temperature control is not very accurate (set it to 80 *). Water temp was 72*-75*) - Couldn't contact support (I didn't try too hard to contact them as it's such a cheap device)
