Review on EDO Tech Hardwire Charger 2495Lmt by Joshua Mejia

I bought this cable twice. When I installed the first one on my bike it happened to stop powering my Garmin GPS and I thought I shorted it out when I realized the cable was pinched under the tank. I changed the cable but the problem persisted, however it worked well enough to charge the device in battery mode. I received a newer bike and decided to buy this product again. This time I made sure to route the cable correctly so as not to pinch it. The first few rides seem fine. Then the same problem occurred. I double checked the wiring and found no errors in the installation but decided to connect directly to the motorcycle battery. This revealed a new problem: I still had a power outage on the cable, but also found my GPS turning on in data mode as if connected to a computer to install updates. Upon further investigation I also discovered that this cable does not support the traffic transceiver function on my Nuvi LMT, nor does the official Garmin wiring kit. Garmin's proprietary USB power cable, on the other hand, doesn't fail and costs just a few bucks more. I gave 2 stars because it was easy to install and at least my GPS was fully charged. It's just not worth breaking while running. For this reason I recommend Garmin users to buy a Garmin cable.
