Review on IKURAM Roof Rack Carrier for Kayaks, Surfboards, and Skis by Randy Holt

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not the cheapest but is it really what you want for your good kayaks?

We bought two sets to transport our kayaks for a weekend trip into the wilderness. 800 miles round trip including interstate and twisting back roads. Attaches easily to the factory roof rack (4runner 2008) and works great. The aluminum bottom plate is surprisingly thick/heavy. Keep in mind that they are meant to be installed without tools. If you insist on using a tool to tighten, be careful as the notch in the aluminum tube will not withstand the pressure you can apply with a tool. After our first flight, the grips were as tight as they were when installed. The included straps work well, however, in addition to the included straps used to attach the boats to the carriers, you have to use something at the front and back. Remember to check your seat belts after about 15 minutes of driving and at each subsequent stop. This will stretch and weaken them until they break, and then just weaken over time.
