We have a north facing apartment but the sun is shining on the slab. They shine reliably every night and charge even in cloudy weather. They don't stay on all night, but honestly no solar panel will work unless you have really big panels with a power bank converter and then you're looking for a few thousand bucks. This fulfills what we had hoped for. They are turned on at least 4 hours before bedtime. I don't know when they turn off because I don't usually get up that late, but I haven't seen that so I'm guessing they're on for 4-5 hours.
