Review on ACDelco 252 845 Professional Water Pump: Optimal Performance & Durability by Edgar Gomez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best replacement pump you can get for your GM/Chevy.

There are other water pumps that will 'fit' but none will fit as well as this one which is made to original AC Delco specifications. Once you've gotten over all the typical, unexpected headaches associated with crawling into the engine bay to replace such a part, the repair is actually quite simple. Aside from any unforeseen headaches, even a novice technician could probably do this in about an hour without flushing the system or any other preparations you might want to do before actually installing it. The "kit" comes with all the gaskets you need. required, and you do NOT need to add any additional adhesives or sealants. This stuff just makes a mess on the mating surfaces and your anchor bolts. For example, my replacement project was delayed for HOURS while I struggled to remove the original anchor bolts from the old pump body and clean all the excess sealant from them that the mechanic who installed them had used to fill all the gasket/port joints. The silicone bead on the edges of the gasket holes compresses between the mating surfaces as you tighten the anchor bolts, forming a perfect seal. The pump manufacturer supplies two of Delco's own "fake" AC seals, but I didn't trust them. I ordered an AC Delco from Revain. Note that you need TWO of these spacers, NOT one. If you're also replacing the thermostat (always a good idea when changing the water pump), get a Delco AC Gasket as well. It comes with an integral O-ring that fits neatly into the thermostat housing and also requires no additional gasket or sealant. , holey aftermarket junk that was there before and replaced it with a water pump that was MADE for my 2001 Suburban. No more bi-weekly coolant level checks and I know this pump will last a very long time before another replacement is needed.
