Review on SYLVANIA 40816 Equivalent Temperature Efficiency by Noah Smith

Sylvania understands. in incandescent

My closet is full of LEDs that I don't know how. Many of the lights in my house are incandescent because they are more comfortable to me. I'm a very sensitive person when it comes to light quality. First off I would like to say that I like the 40W brightness level in the A19 form factor, especially if you don't use a dimmer. I love that they actually come in a 40w matte finish. When incandescent bulbs came out, I really liked how they solved the problem of light distribution. Finally LEDs with the right omnidirectional light. The problem with them was that they often made noise when dimmed (like many incandescent bulbs and other LEDs) and also tend to have clear glass so you can see the filament. Guess what? The clear glass on the bulb sucks unless you opt for a decorative, big, dim Edison-style bulb with a very low color temperature. Most people don't use 2100K or less to light their homes, so why do manufacturers make so many clear glass bulbs? THANKS to Sylvania for being the first company to produce a 450 lumen (40W EQ) FROSTED filament style LED with a high CRI and absolutely silent on every dimmer I tested. I would also like to point out that lower wattage LEDs are always more reliable due to lower heat generation, which is another reason I like them. . This is MUCH more important to me than the dimming range. Works great even with the old incandescent dimmers I've tried (no noise). True omnidirectional light High color rendering index (good color rendering) Cons: Not available at 3000K like some other LEDs I have or incandescent bulbs. Judging by the reviews, the higher power versions have reliability issues.

Pros
  • BETTER VISION with better light that is more comforting to your eyes when reading and shows true, vibrant colors, whites and skin tones
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
