I wanted to add some ambient lighting to my home so I bought this 50 foot RGB LED strip light. The light strip is powered by a large power supply. There are 3 rolls of 16ft LED lighting that can be linked together. It is controlled by a small controller and a power splitter with a microphone for lighting effects that change to the rhythm of the music. The controller also saves the last programmed functions and settings. You can program it with the IR remote control or with an app on your smartphone via Bluetooth. I programmed mine to run at night with an amber white light for my sofa. I've been experimenting with adding it to my stair handles and closet. After programming, I no longer needed the app on my phone and deleted it. The controller can still receive signals from the IR remote when it is powered on. When my controller is set to a specific time, it SOMETIMES blocks the IR remote. That can be good or bad. The good thing is nobody can change it later and mess up your settings. Too bad I have to use a smartphone app to change the program. The problem was that it didn't match the IR rejection. ADVANTAGES: - Easy installation with 3 casters of 16 feet. RGB LED lighting. - Can be connected in series - Feel-good ambient lighting - AC power supply - IR remote control has many control options. (temporary on/off switching, lighting color and fading effects, lighting levels and music beat effects. - Advanced programming possible via the smartphone app: scheduled on/off times, RGB lighting levels and settings, music beat control of Your phone from app. After programming, the controller saves the settings CONS: - Only one programmable controller in the package (you have to buy another set if you want light in another group of rooms) - The app communicates with the controller via bluetooth Not a big deal if you're just using it for programming - No IR remote reset button for advanced programming - you'll have to use their app to update - Inconsistent override with IR remote for future DIY projects due to cutting and soldering the g later -cable If you plan to make the whole room or a plot with lighting, it will work ren. If you want to add different colors and lighting scenes, you need multiple kits or more advanced kits with different scenes.
