The accuracy of this viewfinder is amazing. I had to find a stud behind a ceramic tile lined drywall. The pin had to be positioned precisely to securely screw the fall protection in our bathroom. Simply move the detector along the surface until the signal level meter reaches its maximum value and the center cross hairs light up. This is the centerline of the bolt plus or minus 1/2 inch. The composition of the material of the wall or floor, if known, can be selected in the search engine. Choice of wall, concrete or universal. Finder works very well in universal settings. There is an audible signal to support the visual indication. It is "enabled" by default. The technology of the device is based on a radar detector and not on cheap magnetic or capacitive devices. The main benefit of dtud finder is the confidence in the accurate results it provides to the user. Bosch also makes versions of the viewfinder for professional use at a much higher price. The manufacturer claims that the device can find hollow pipes and electrical conductors, but I've tried those options as well.
