This printer is large and heavy as expected. The Amazon box it came in was huge - its size and weight made it difficult to grab. No wonder it fell down several times. There was no packaging in the box. Printer box was loose in Amazon box. This is utter nonsense and unacceptable when you're shipping a $900 printer in a bulky box! When setting up the printer, it behaved like DOA. I keep getting an 1890 error which means the orange shipping clip is in the print head to keep it from moving. except that it has been removed, as has the rest of the packaging tape. The Canon website was useless in resolving the issue - it said call TS, well direct on Sat. I was furious that I had to return this and wait another week for a replacement so I took a chance. When I saw that the printhead wasn't moving, I simply pulled on it to move it out of its transport position. good traction and it was clear. OK. a loaded printhead (not mentioned in Canon's instructions) and ink cartridges. the printed calibration sheet is OK. printed the first photo on it and it was very good. The print quality is excellent. Expect the shadow to lighten the curves as a major correction and print. Use the Canon print app. In general, when you own any number of consumer inkjet printers and color lasers, it's quite amazing to get a good, usable print right on the first try. That's the only reason everyone buys this printer - great prints without having to print a dozen sheets before you get something that looks right. Cons: No third-party inks or ink tanks yet. Canon inks are expensive but not as bad as HP or Epson which are much more expensive. It's not the cheapest printer, but it's not the most expensive either. You may need to buy one from the shopping carts at the moment as the 10 ink set is nowhere to be found. The printer is a little slow, but the print quality makes up for it if your goal isn't high-volume commercial printing, but rather limited short runs and one-offs.
