I purchased this brace as part of several procedures I am using to deal with the sudden onset of severe pain in my right flank from arthritis of the hip, not really in the groin but on the side of the thigh and front of thigh. I use it when walking as extra support for sore muscles in that area. It helped relieve pain when walking. Even if the pain is aggravated under other conditions, compression of the femoral brace helps relieve the pain. I also do stretching, strength exercises, cold compresses, and Tylenol. Some particular advantages of this bandage are that it is quick and easy to put on, can be used on both the left and right side and fits comfortably under my normal clothing. Not all of these supports are so flexible. I am a 71 year old doctor who dislikes surgery and would not use opioid painkillers.
