Review on ๐Ÿ‘ Sheepskin Cushioned Bicycle Seat Cover by Maurice Hurd

Revainrating 5 out of 5

a new cover for torn saddles, nice too.

I used two of these (on two different bikes) as covers for wide seats that had cracks. A lot of seats like this have a plastic sheet covering the foam or gel on the inside, which after a few years will crumple and tear, and the insides will expand, increasing the cleavage. My old seats are intact except for the outer covers, so I fixed the tears with vinyl repair glue and then put on faux lambskin covers. These covers look more mature, stronger and more durable than the original covers, but I won't know for sure until a few years have passed. IAC, new covers cost less than $30-$40 for comparable new saddles. Added January 10, 2015: I didn't buy this cover thinking it would make my bike saddle more comfortable because unlike many others I don't just look at the reviews I read the content of reviews which often said that the cover does not comfort, although it has been said many times that it saved their ass; but more importantly, i think a soft pillow will flatten completely at 230lbs, right? However, as actual usage showed me, I was wrong. The real way pads work is by distributing weight over large areas. So what you really want is for the support pad to compress downward, but only until it compresses evenly over large areas. As long as it doesn't flatten out, there isn't much extra area for the weight to affect. The low, squishy area might be nice for stroking your flesh, but it doesn't take much weight off your high-pressure points, the really uncomfortable spots. The rather stiff synthetic fiber of the faux sheepskin appears to have the same squeezing and spreading properties. It looks distractingly erotic and will only get worse (better?) as the weather gets colder and the plastic hardens. You might think that because the cover is like fur, it's hotter than smooth plastic in the summer heat, but it's not. It's cooler and less sweaty than smooth plastic. Perhaps it absorbs sweat, a property that athletes (which I'm not one of) highly tout for materials like Lycra. You won't jump up in pain if you accidentally flop onto a seat burned by the scorching sun. During winter frosts you don't feel like you've been sitting on ice. A color that is less visible to dirt, such as B. Gray would be nice. Anyone who came up with the imitation sheepskin is underestimated. Many Thanks.

Pros
  • High test results for support and durability
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
