August 2020 Update #2 (almost 16 months later)------------------------------- ----- --- What do I think of power tools? These photos of my collection should complete the picture :-) July 2020: Update! (14 months later)--------------------------------------------- ------- --------------- KRAFT putty knives and trowels really are the BEST. Since my original posting, I've installed about 500 square feet of new drywall in my 1950's house and painted the ceilings and walls of many rooms. As a do-it-yourselfer, I've learned to really enjoy the art of slushing - and CRAFT has played no small part in that. Here are some extras to add to my original rating: - Virtually indestructible. I have accidentally left my knives submerged in a bucket of water for more than a week on several occasions. zero rust. The metal looks brand new - SHARP. These spatulas are sharper and crispier than any I've come across. This is a huge plus when sanding - by simply changing the angle of the blade to the wall you can gently remove wet dirt OR stubborn imperfections like old paint streaks, drywall lines or bumps etc (during prep). I no longer have to force the end of the handle when filling holes. I just take the sharp corner of the knife, stick it in the hole and rotate it 360 degrees. Easy groove, ready for 20 minutes of slush :)- SHARPPPP --- Our old electric range (oven) probably baked on hardened spills for decades. I've tried cleaning products with paper towels, brushes, etc. Nothing worked. My trusty 4-inch kraft paper, white vinegar, and some elbow grease wiped away all traces of dirt. - Limited flexibility --- I wasn't a fan at first. Grips - CLUTCH. I get much better results with a lot less effort than other flex knives.-Rubber Handle ---I HATE to bring up a negative point because I'm a huge fan and don't want to put anyone off their purchase. To be 100% transparent, the rubber handle on these knives is flimsy and will wear out over time. I put my knives through the ring and that's probably why (under water weeks in a row lol) so don't take that as a deterrent. I'm considering buying a full stainless version next time, but either choice is a smart one. So now my poor Hydes feel like Fisher Price toys - craving my attention. do yourself a favor and pull the trigger. Any savings on drywall jobs will pay for itself in minutes. The only reason I came back to this page was wrong - looking for 3" and 2" Kraft Trowels. and a big graduation towel :). Hello force. I gladly accept donations to LOL.Buy. This. Product.May 2019: original review -------------------------------------------------------- - ------------- You've watched some YouTube videos, decided to tackle a home renovation project, and given some thought. Am I really that terrible at it? If you're like me, you got started with Harbor Freight. Terrible - boring and too flexible. Up your game with a "higher" Wal-Board from Home Depot. Unfortunately, by the second day, your "stainless steel" blade will show signs of pitting and rusting. After speaking to a few pros and scouring Reddit, you discover Hyde. My 6" Hyde arrived a few weeks ago and my performance immediately improved. Time and experience helped, but the effectiveness of the tool is undeniable. It won't rust (with proper care), is sharp enough, and bends well What about tinkering? When I received the Kraft trowel, I knew I had to try one of their legendary spatulas.(https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NK1Y0NE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie= UTF8&psc=1) Unbelievable. You get what you pay for. Hyde gets you from A to B safely and KRAFT gets you there in style. From the crisp sound of a SHARP blade to the ergonomic design, this Kraft is 4" (and 6 ") Spatula is a finely tuned tool. You can tell right away that this company took the design and production of this product seriously. It feels like an extension of your hand, perfectly balanced and ready to sling. This knife deserves a 5 of 5 stars. For your peace of mind, my blade was carefully protected by a cardboard sleeve and then placed in a separate plastic bag (5/9/19). If "Made in USA" is important to you, then I believe only the rubber grip is made abroad. I personally don't care and will continue to buy Kraft products even if they move the production to some kind of toilet in a foreign jungle. Obtain. This. Knife.
