So I got a spare laptop for work and wanted to put in a sliding top like my last one. I ordered this little set on Prime Day just to try it out. In fact, they're about the width of a tiny fingernail and maybe twice as long. Actually about half of what I expected based on the photos. However, it successfully closes the camera on my Dell laptop and allows you to move it multiple times. Once installed, I position it so that red means it's closed, and sliding the black circle over the lens means it's open. Maybe you could install it differently if you wanted. :)
