The loop that holds the pen stretches, the pad sticks to the inside of the magazine when you want the pen to sit on the edge of the book , similar and other similar products. My Uni-Ball (thin) rollerball pen fits well, but I can stretch it a bit to ensure a medium-thick pen fits. I can also place a Pentel mechanical pencil (with a rubber neck where I keep it) but it requires gentle pulling to remove. Over time, the loop should stretch for thicker grips. My only advice to the user is to be careful when attaching the block to the magazine, you don't want the loop to extend too far away from the magazine or a little inside. Before you remove the protective cover from the block, perhaps place it in the right spot and mark its base with a pencil. Then open the magazine and glue the block in place.
