Review on HORI Battle Pad for Wii U (Link Version) with Turbo - Enhanced for Nintendo Wii U Gaming Experience by Brett Morrison

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It should be noted that this controller works as a Wii Classic Controller (or Classic Controller Pro)

The controller is a worthy replacement for the original GameCube controller. However, it should be noted that this controller acts as a Wii Classic Controller (or Classic Controller Pro) and is NOT designed specifically for the Wii U. Therefore, you need the Wii Remote or Wii Remote Plus to use this controller, and the controller is only compatible with Wii games and Wii U that work with Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro. Again, this will NOT work as a Wii U Pro controller, which is an Xbox 360-style wireless controller designed specifically for the Wii U. As for the controller itself, all buttons and both joysticks are fine. The sticks aren't too loose or too tight, and come pretty close to the original GameCube controller in terms of the amount of pressure you need to apply to each stick. The control panel is slightly thinner than the GameCube controller, but still works well and is comfortable to use. The L and R triggers on the back of the controller aren't analogous to those on the GameCube, instead functioning as simple buttons, such as B. the ZL and ZR double shoulder keys. The controller also has a turbo function, which is fairly easy to set up. although you'll need to keep track of which keys have Turbo enabled and which don't. The turbo frequency can be adjusted to 5, 10 and 20 key presses per second with the switch on the front of the controller. The controller also has the ability to completely reset and disable turbo features by holding down the turbo button and pressing the select button. However, pressing the home button also disables turbo, so you'll have to re-enable turbo for each button if you need to enter and exit the home screen while using a controller. In general, the controller is very easy to use. use. There are just a few flaws: incompatibility with some Wii U games that use the Wii U Pro controller but not necessarily the Classic Wii Controller or Classic Controller Pro, the fact that this controller doesn't work like a real GameCube controller , and the fact that you also need a Wii Remote (or Wii Remote Plus) to use the controller with. If you're looking for analog L and R triggers, this is another potential downside. Otherwise it's a great controller.
