This activity cube has too many sides for shape sorting in my opinion. Two on the sides, one on the top. The string is a nice touch and fun for the kid, xylophone keys were too loose and almost touching, I am not sure how long it will hold. Another problem is the top cover/ maze game. It is almost useless for very young children because it's unstable. Unlike other cubes where all 4 sides sit on the frame of the box, only 2 sides sit on the frame of this cube, so if child presses on one side of the top will cause it to fall over. Unless this is intentional and meant to teach a child how to set a toppled top straight, lol.Given the design and quality control issues I almost wanted to give it 3 stars, but it was my fault that I did not look at the pictures closely enough to see that it has 2.5 sides of shape sorter. Personally, I am also partial to wooden toys. I find that without more variety of activity on this cube, it doesn't hold the child's attention for long. It also has small parts, parents will want to supervise when child plays with this cube.
