Review on Experience the Art of Origami: Introducing the Kidstoyo Origami Thousand Cranes Kit by Kim Sanchez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Roughly my second set of 1000 roosters.

I ordered one of these kits about 10 years ago and in about 2.5 months of free time assembled 1000 cranes including their route. Once I got used to folding the cranes, I was able to fold the cranes one at a time in about 3 minutes. However, I lined them up in color order and it looks good, but not as good as I could make it out to be. I already ordered a second set at the beginning of April 2018. I wanted to challenge myself again and stack another thousand cranes. This time I folded all the faucets in about 2 months. But to date I haven't drawn them yet, I want to take my time to do it right and better. This time I'm going to knit them with a rainbow pattern to make it look as good as I hoped. I folded one color at a time of cranes, using gallon-sized zip-lock bags to store the folded cranes and a quart-sized bag for the unfolded papers. . I used an accordion file office briefcase that had about 28 separate folders. I numbered each bag from 1 to 20 of each color in turn and added the letter F (folded) along with the corresponding color numbers to store the folded cranes; For example 18 and 18F. Now it's time to string my faucets. Since I can't read the Japanese seal on the kit box (I'm assuming the "60m" on the packaging means 60 meters of cord), I tried to find out the available length of cord so I wouldn't have to have little per crane chain (making it difficult to connect all the strings once completed) or too much (causing me to run out of rope before all the cranes were lined up). After some searching on the internet I came up with a common length of about 1 meter per string when there are 25 strings with 40 taps each. I learned from my mistakes with the first folded senbazuru and hope my review will help others to make a nice senbazuru of their own. I've included three photos from my first attempt as examples of how to string the cranes.
