Just what I needed

I decided to try making a 37" x 19.5" Betsy Ross flag by using a 1 x 10" x 10 Foot sized piece of pine ripped into 37" x 1.5" strips by burning each strip with a propane torch, dyeing each appropriately, attaching them to four 1.5" wide vertical strips with nails and glue, and then hand engrave the stars and 1776 with a dremel and then apply 3 coats of polyurethane.I think it went well for the first time!Using a Betsy Ross stencil I marked the edge of the bruise with a utility knife blade (the blade later became used as a mask in the groove to apply the paint and avoid bleeding.) For the stars and 1776 I used a pencil to trace the outline, then I used my Dremel with a precision engraver tool to first draw the pencil lines and then remove the painted wood inside that outline. Be careful and with a steady hand the engraving actually turned out to be easy and simpler than I expected. Now I've been asked to make a smaller flag so I'll have to buy a different stencil size! I couldn't have done it without this great product - definitely recommended for your 37" x 19.5" flag project. It cuts well and lasts a long time.
