Review on 🔧 PFF85-431 Powerflex Suspension Bushes by Brian West

Noticeable improvement!

Almost PERFECT for my Audi TT Roadster (Mk-1) on Bilstein HD struts (aftermarket single tube, gas pressure)! Pressurized struts/shocks tend to raise the car a few millimeters, especially when new, and even after OEM style strut mounts (Meyle) "root" after a few thousand miles, the ride height still seems a little higher be what could be. ideal for relatively vigorous daily rides. After installing the Eibach "Pro-Kit" spring set (lowering 1.2 inches), the height was more than I wanted. Unfortunately, after a few hundred miles on (poorly maintained) moderately rough roads, which is where I mostly ride, the stiffer springs resulted in the softer strut mounts compressing enough to seize on the spring heads, sometimes causing quite annoying bumps when changing of the angle caused. Steering wheel. To compensate for the impact forces, I replaced the top mounts with stiffer ones. Polyurethane supports PowerFex (WITHOUT lowering). Back in the field, I noticed that the TT's front ride height had increased by about 0.51 inches. I drove the car a few hundred miles to see if the "polyethylene" mounts would compress like the OEM specs with use. If they ever did, it was visually imperceptible. So I decided to get a set of these 10mm mounts and install them. I'm happy to report that the results are well worth the time, effort and expense! The ride height is optimal for spirited driving on public roads and might even be great for (non-professional?) competition use! Of course, you have to get used to slowing your speed in and out of parking spaces to a couple of mph when the ride height drops to avoid nose-pulling. but on these cars it's usually not a clunky adjustment. And based on experience with the previous set of polyurethane mounts, I doubt I need to worry too much about compressing these mounts enough to cause ride height issues in the foreseeable future.

Pros
  • PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: A-pillar top mount bushing 10mm
Cons
  • Low repairability
