I use bamboo/rattan holders with . Spring . forever and replace them with cheap spares every year or so. In the end I decided to look for a better option and found this one. I've had them for about 3 weeks now and they work MUCH better! No sharp, pointy pieces of bamboo to catch on me or anything! Hooray! I've used them with large, fairly heavy paper plates (Dixie Ultra Modern Romance Plates, 20 Count, 10.0625 inches) and they fit great! The "flex" of the plate extends beyond the edge of the holder, but I'm fine with that as the rest of the plate sits securely in the holder. The holder itself seems sturdy enough - I had loaded some fairly heavy content into one and didn't feel like it would bend or collapse. Black also goes well with my decor - a nice neutral color. .I realize they're probably available cheaper elsewhere, but I live in a relatively rural area with no "dollar store" within 100 miles, so I'm okay with the price here (just under $9 a set) . from 4). I think they'll last a long time, so I don't mind my "investment".
