Overall, the hooks are strong and will easily support our 55# Yaks+ gear. The supplied screws broke off during assembly. DO NOT USE THE SCREWS SUPPLIED WITH THIS PRODUCT. We used high-quality self-tapping screws for assembly. The hooks swing from side to side due to the rounded backs of the hangers; So we installed 2 "2-hole rib clamps" on each hanger to keep them from swinging from side to side (see picture). I would have given these hangers 1 star if the kit wasn't so inexpensive and easy to "fix" the design and hardware issues. Before installing the hangers, we attached 2 vertical 1x4s to the wall joists. We've also added eye hooks to the top and bottom of the kayaks to secure them in a collision.
