Review on 🚲 Travoy: Unleash Convenience with the Compact Folding Cargo Bike Trailer by Fort Steffen

Download manual from Burley website. This is our second Travoy trailer. The other is still in use 10 years later. The new Travoy features several significant improvements: • The new 'footboard' design keeps the trailer upright when parked with a load. The old one would fall over. • The new seat post coupling allows you to use one coupling for two or more bikes. With the old one I had to buy more clutches. • The tow arm now extends to accommodate rear bike racks and larger MTB wheels. • The tow arm is now covered in foam for a comfortable grip. While owning our first Travoy, we mistakenly thought we should go for a flatbed instead. We recently bought a tablet and don't use it. bought a second weed as a replacement. If you're just running local errands, Travoy is by far the easiest and best. If you are touring or traveling on dirt roads an onboard option might be a better choice but you should have both an onboard and a travoy as the travoy is easier for local errands which are much more common. Bags designed for use with Travoy are expensive. and doesn't hold up enough. Instead, take your Travoy to a Target or Walmart store and choose the largest clothes hamper that fits the Travoy's form factor (see photo). Attach this basket with three ratchet mounts or four high quality adjustable bungees. Don't skimp on quality or quantity. BENEFITS: • Lightweight, 10 pounds +/- • No tools or setup required. Screw the hitch to the seat post with the T-bolt and you're done. • Folds up to fit easily in the back seat, in the trunk or overhead. • Holds groceries up to $125 with a large basket. Consider the maximum weight limit (60 pounds) and pack the heaviest items on the bottom (66% load) and the lighter items on top (33%). • With Travoy, you don't have to lean as far to reach your load. • Comes with a storage/carrying case (although most of the time it's useless for carrying cargo). CONS: • You have to change your driving style a bit. The Travoy is stable on level roads, but may tip over on large bumps or debris. Slow down and approach ramps and access roads for the disabled at exactly 90 degrees (perpendicular) to avoid hitting the wheel with your shoulders raised. Completely avoid potholes and debris. You'll get used to it over time and it won't bother you. If Travoy tips, he doesn't take his bike with him. • If you ride with stock tires and tubes, be prepared for punctures. The availability of quality 12.5" tires and tubes is extremely limited. All the tires from Asia that we tried are not good, even dangerous. We have very good 12.5" tires from the German manufacturer Schwalbe found (available here at Revain). Schwalbe currently offers a "Road Cruiser" for the street and a "Black Jack" for trails and off-road (12/2020). • Spike-resistant 12.5" tubes are here at Revain available, but 12.5" Travoy wheels require a 45 degree valve; otherwise, there isn't enough room to mount the pump or even the pump hose. Those spike-resistant hoses had straight valves. Around this shortcoming to fix, we found an "Air Blower Hose Adapter” here at Revain. Although it barely fits, we can use it with both a floor pump and a travel pump. TIPS: • In addition to anti-spike tubes, we use "Mr. Tuffy tires on all wheels on our bikes and trailers (here at Revain). Dwellings are now very rare and we ride among the numerous thorns of the desert. • When using the basket, the neon yellow safety vest is simply cut into three parts (left front, right front and back) and attach the parts to the basket (left, right and back, see photo). • Reflective flags and flagpoles with matching accessories for your hoop are available here at Revain. The flagpole we bought is so high that the flag can be seen above the level of the parked car (see photo). For added security, we now use this flag and pole on our bikes without a trailer. • If a basket is out of place, we use a cargo net.
