First of all, I'm not a tire changer. What I've found is the importance of good tools, patience, tire grease, patience, attention to detail (e.g. make sure you put the tire in the right direction), patience, good tools, tire grease. only be ok for two things, firstly the chrome finish which allows them to slide easily between the rim and tire but it also means they can slip out at the wrong moment especially in the last few inches. I had another problem with the rim protection. They have cleats so you can tie them up/pull them out if they fall in the hoop. The problem is that the cleats break easily, one broke when you tightened the knot. Another problem with rim protectors was that crowbars could poke holes in them or just slip off them. That being said, for the price and perhaps in more experienced/skilled hands, this isn't a bad kit. To be honest I don't have any other set to compare. So if you're a beginner like me, go slow, be patient and make sure you put the tire in the right direction the first time!
