It may seem strange but I use this vise for a drill as a vise. I removed the steel jaw inserts and made a set of hardwood inserts to avoid damaging the wood. I can safely hold up to a 2 x 4, and I'm building a vise mount. The vise itself is solid, with a good Acme screw for smooth tightening. For the money you really can't beat it.
