This needle felting set is a bit unconventional. Instead of shaping everything from wool yarn to create shapes, he tries to save wool by starting with the 'shapes' of the styrofoam center that you felt the wool on. While this results in less wool being used and pretty much ensures the finished shape is decent, it also results in LOTS of broken pins due to hand shaking and broken pins in the foam. I had to get more needles before I even finished the first project. My other complaint was the quality of the wool roving that was delivered. Some of the smaller pieces (for color detail) were slightly knotted and tangled instead of the usual "roll" of combed fibers going in the same direction. I STRONGLY suspect that this is the use of "waste" and leftovers from the combing process of higher quality kits. An alpaca (llama?) uses a DOUBLE as a shape for its legs. It was even worse than styrofoam felt. I wouldn't give this set to a newbie if I wanted that person to ever want to make this usually very fun craft.
