This is an AWESOME device! My family and I bought a Sony Bravia LED TV, but unfortunately the TV's IR (infrared) sensor is located on the bottom of the TV. I suppose that won't be a problem for a lot of people, but our TV sits on a shelf above the fireplace where part of the wood paneling is blocking the sensor. This made it extremely difficult to use the TV remote control. We first tried using a different third-party IR sensor/repeater with the TV, but found that many other devices had compatibility issues when trying to use the devices directly with TVs (instead of plugging them into a receiver) . Fortunately, the Sewell Direct SW-30471 BlastIR USB adapter does not suffer from this problem. This is because this device is not actually connected to the TV. Instead, to use the device, place its sensor in front of the TV's IR receiver in a location easily accessible for your remote control and blaster/repeater. The device literally takes the IR signal from your remote control and mirrors the broadcast onto your TV, eliminating the need for additional adapters or worrying about compatibility issues. It should be noted that the device requires its own socket for power supply, while devices that connect televisions and/or receivers directly are usually powered by the connected device. If you don't have enough outlets or want to avoid visible cords, this might not be for you. In the end, my family and I are very happy with this purchase. It's small, handy, easy to set up and just works!
