I was looking for this product because we placed the soundbar in front of the TV and could no longer control the TV unless the remote was placed very high. So, with a simple setup, we installed the receiver on the edge of the TV and the transmitter in the place of the TV behind the soundbar. The problem is solved! I bought this because my center speaker is right in front of the TV's IR receiver. It works maybe ten percent of the time. Whatever I did, holding the IR emitter directly in front of the TV receiver, holding the remote a few inches away from BlastIR's IR receiver, or whatever else I tried didn't work. It works great with my DirecTV Genie receiver and remote! My receiver is in an open space (not in a closet) but deep on the floor of my living room. It's a place where it's very difficult to pick up standard IR from old remotes and I hate the new RF remotes that come with new Genie receivers. I bought the BlastIR hoping it would help boost the signal from my old DirecTV remote so I didn't have to make a conscious effort to point the remote directly at the receiver every time I changed channels.

This is an AWESOME device! My family and I bought a Sony Bravia LED TV, but unfortunately the TV's IR (infrared) sensor is located on the bottom of the TV.
