Review on Philips AE1500W Portable Radio FM/AM Analogue Tuning AE1500 - White πŸ“» Genuine: A Compact and Reliable Portable Radio for Entertaining Music on the Go! by Bankroll Reed

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Good reception, terrible sound. DEAD

I have really good reception. To be honest my other pocket radios come and go, can't lie down etc. This guy works like a champ. It's very light and thin. Sound? abominable. If you could "harden" a "tinny" sound, boost the high frequencies and physically remove all bass from the incoming radio waves. I have dozens of different pocket radios. I've been using them since the 70's. I understand. That's the worst thing I've ever heard. Whatever it was, at a volume high enough to understand what's being played. Under the hood of an old truck, too far from any outlet, I was able to tinker with the music a bit without having to fiddle around with reception all the time. That's all I wanted. Good welcome. Therefore 3 stars instead of 2. Now it goes with me in my tool box. (Of course it's not white anymore! Mmm, add character.) Update: My rating has been changed to 2 stars. The sound is too tinny to forgive. more, no matter how good the reception is. I know it's only 1/2 inch thick so no resonant chamber to speak of sound BUT my phone doesn't work either and sounds 100x better. Last update 05.07.32: ZERO stars. The little guy stopped working together. The sound sucks, but at least it was AAA.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
