Perfect Fit for Generator

I needed a generator to power our home during power outages, which is becoming more common now that Edison in Southern California is out due to high winds. Only this month it has been disconnected 2 times, 24 hours and more than 36 hours. I bought a generator for 30 amps and 3600 watts. It has no sensors other than fuel. I wanted to check the voltage, the frequency the oscillator puts out and the amplifiers I'm using. I don't care about the power as the amp's chopper will trip before I get the generator's full power output. Knowing the power factor can help you understand this better. I installed a gauge under my generator so I can check it at any time. I tested it on an expensive handheld meter my friend has and the voltage and frequency readings matched. Amplifiers bothered me the most. I tested with my table saw and my router running at the same time. Both devices showed me 12.5 amps 200 parts apart. I am very satisfied with the Mictuning gauge. While it's not supposed to be used outdoors, my generator will only be outside a few times a year and under a canopy. It must not be exposed to water. The main thing I was looking for when purchasing was a split ring that goes around the "hot" wire. I didn't want to cut and splice the wire together. The ring was easy to use and I taped it up to make sure it didn't fall apart. I really didn't think I should do this, but I'd like to play it safe. Wiring was easy. I cut an old two prong extension cord and used the prong end. The "hot" wire is the wire that connects to the small pin. I screwed this wire into the second screw on the gauge. I screwed the other wire into the first screw. The wires from the ring don't care which screw they screw into. I cut open the outer shell of the adapter I bought for this purpose and exposed the black wire. I placed the ring on the black wire and closed it with electrical tape. I recommended this to a friend.
