I like this vest. There is a little more padding than expected in the chest area, but I like the extra buoyancy. These are not life jackets, but they do help a little in the water, giving your body some much-needed warmth and preventing the waist belt from riding up too much. I wear it over a wetsuit and could probably go up a size, but it fits snugly and doesn't restrict movement at all. I love the look and feel - overall nicely tailored for women and not as masculine looking (since many men's impact vests are padded to look like – well – a man's muscular chest, which strikes me as ugly).
