Okay, let's try one more improvement. A long time ago when I had a 1991 Volvo 240 that my sister gave me in 2000, I used Sylvania Silverstar and then Silverstar Ultra bulbs for a while and I loved them! Especially with the wire harness I bought from IPD which connects the headlights directly to the battery and eliminates the voltage drop through the headlight switch. IPD no longer sells this pendant but with their help I found it here on Revain from another manufacturer called Putco. And then one day, as they say, I'm minding my own business, and suddenly a Volvo 850 appears with one headlight off, but the one that was on was such a sharp, shiny, light blue-white headlight. When I spoke to the driver at the stop light I just asked the halibut if he had PIAA headlights and he confirmed that he did and that his brother put them on a while ago and then gave him the car. I was familiar with PIAA headlight bulbs and thought about trying them, but didn't know if I could justify the extra price. Especially when Silverstar Ultra was so amazing! Well, after this meeting with another Volvo owner, I decided I should give it a try. Man I'm glad I did! Not only were they whiter than the Sylvania, but they shone further down the road and more importantly (to ME at least) they emitted more light to the sides! Which is critical for me at night. Then I decided to get a pair for my fog lights. I think the best review of this combination came from another driver in a pea soup fog at night when we were the only cars on the road just after midnight. I kept wondering why this guy doesn't pass me even though he's in the left lane. I accelerated, he accelerated. I slowed down and he slowed down. He insisted on walking miles with me and stayed by my side no matter what I did. I later realized it was because his headlights on his pickup truck weren't very bright, but all the light I got from the front of my Volvo with PIAA headlights AND fog lights illuminated the Baltimore/Washington path Down the boulevard for both of us! I had barely had this combination a year when the car unfortunately had an accident in 2011. So durability or lack I can not confirm. Now, a full decade later, after not having owned a car in all that time, I got another Volvo 240. This time from 1993, and I decided to take them again. I've just received the lighting cable and haven't installed it yet, but they've already shown me what they can do at night and I'm very satisfied again. Can't wait to install the wiring harness and then get another set of fog lights. This is funny! The first photo is just the low beam setting before the fog lights were installed. In the second photo, the fog lights are finally installed, of course with PIAA lamps. For some reason the high beam indicator comes on when I turn on the headlights with the Putco light harness. When I turn on the high beams, the display gets brighter, but the headlights go out. I'm impressed with how much brighter the headlights get with the wiring harness, but I'll have to try something else. Holding PIAA!
