Chipped and very rough wood.
Not as pretty as the pictures. I have two and they have wood shavings. The wood is not smooth at all. Very rough and beaten look. I tried rubbing with edible mineral oil, the rough appearance did not change. Disappointed, especially the price. I would not use it when entertaining guests.
