Review on πŸ“’ Strathmore 400 Series Printmaking Pad: Heavyweight White Paper, 11x14 Inches, 15 Sheets - Quality & Value by Amber Perez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good budget buy for block printing.

I took engraving classes in college and really enjoyed the reduced relief printing on wood and linoleum. The paper I had to use in college wasn't very budget friendly, so I wanted to look for cheaper alternatives that didn't skimp too much on the final print quality. I decided to go ahead and grab a notepad made out of this heavy paper to give it a try. I haven't printed this paper yet, but I can say that so far it lives up to my expectations. The paper is of good thickness with fairly good jags and seems to take ink well. It's not laid paper, which many artists seem to prefer, but I don't mind that. Good to know: I use AKUA water-based inks and Baren to do prints. I don't know how this paper will do for oil paints or presses.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure

Corner of the pad was crushed in. Fortunately, it doesn't matter for my use of the product.
