Review on ๐Ÿงผ Flexible Rectangular Soap Silicone Mold with Wood Box DIY Tool for Soap Cake Making - 42oz (Purple, Set of 2) by Christine Marquez

Sizes are not as advertised and flavors are sticky >_<

Longtime soap maker CP, finally broke down and said to hell with my homemade hand fed wooden molds and bought them. Decent silicone is thin so it's easy to remove, but definitely not for out-of-the-box use. Pine box, very light but insulates the soap well enough although I am skeptical of how long it will last before cracking as experienced by another reviewer. The soap came out easily in less than a day (although my recipe calls for a quick set) and it was smooth and even, unlike my old parchment-lined molds. PROBLEMS: First, the description says the inside measurements are 10 inches. long, 3 inches wide and 2.7 inches high. THAT IS NOT RIGHT. Actual measurements: 10.25 inches long, 2.7 inches wide, and 3 inches high (ie taller than wide). I probably wouldn't have chosen these shapes if it had been specifically stated as I prefer my bars to be a bit longer than tall which is currently not possible. I think I will put up with the new size of the soap but again it was a misunderstanding on the part of the seller. Second, and more importantly, after a batch of Apple Cinnamon scented soap and a thorough wash, the scent said it has been heavily saturated with silicone so far and the box is weak. Very disappointed with this but hopefully the smell will wear off after it has dried enough to continue using - I certainly can't have all my soaps smelling one after the other. Overall, I found these shapes easier to deal with. than my old ones, but the odor liability isn't worth it if the molds become unusable after one batch.
