This product is still not bad. Windows 10 x64 did not require drivers to recognize and use the device. The onboard volume control allows me to find a middle ground between the OS volume setting and the headphone output so there's no noticeable hiss. The maximum volume is quite loud but not annoying, I set the device and computer to about 90% of the maximum for comfortable immersion. I haven't done any formal testing, but it seems to deliver a fairly flat frequency response across my listening range. If you like very loud stuff, you might be less fortunate than me. Combined with Dolby Atmos (provided by the operating system) and decent 50mm headphones, the experience offers great value for the price for casual gaming, video and music. The ability to plug in a separate microphone or use the newer 3-way tip/boom combo headphone jacks was a key buying factor. The item is plastic but doesn't look like it will break in a laptop bag.
