It lacked accuracy and not very good Bluetooth range.

It's quite a nifty device and I'm still getting used to it. The software was downloaded to my iPad, which is about 6 feet from my oven. Being so close I didn't think I would need a WiFi bridge. Once paired, the connection to the oven thermometer was reasonably stable, though it lost connection a couple of times. You will receive a warning that your Bluetooth connection has been lost and advice to bring the thermometer closer to your iPad. Placing the iPad next to the stove seemed to solve the problem. My biggest complaint is the accuracy. I compared all my thermometers in boiling water, using a glass thermometer as an accurate temperature reference. In the temperature range of 140-190 degrees, the Meatstick was consistently 8-12 degrees below the actual temperature. To be honest, my other two digital thermometers also tended to read low. Since I know the temp gauge is low, I compensate accordingly. Update: 2/4/21 A steak cooked on a grill with a thermometer set to Rare (125F). The steak came out perfect. I have not compensated for the accuracy issues described above. Updated: 02/19/21. The thermometer could not be paired with my iPad and iPhone. I contacted tech support and got a quick response with various suggestions. Apparently, the "like new" thermometer cap needs to be kept clean. Mine had a very slight tan tint, enough to prevent good contact when the thermometer was in the charger. A+ customer service. Update 4 Mar 21 Meatstick failed to connect again. Contacted support who agreed the item was defective and said they would send a replacement. It was February 24th. The tracking number shows that the shipment did not reach the post office. Since my thermometer isn't working, I have to change my rating to 1 star. I contacted support who said they would send another thermometer. Not seen. Customer support is now D+. + at least replies to my emails. Update 3/9/21: After contacting customer service again, they sent a second replacement thermometer and I was able to pair it. I haven't cooked with it yet. I received a follow up email asking if everything is working now. So I'll give customer service another five for their support. I'll report if the thermometer holds. Now it's 3 stars again. Update 3/9/21: This replacement worked once. Went to use after a month and the battery in the charger and the thermometer were dead. The charger was replaced and the thermometer charged. Wouldn't float. Kicked out and kicked out. Back to 1 star.
