My labrador is older and now 10 so I thought maybe it was time to step up his eating habits to make sure he was getting better ingredients needed for his age were developed. I read something online and Blue Buffalo seemed highly regarded as a superior dog food so I bought Life Protection Formula Natural Senior Large Breed Chicken and Brown Rice Food. I gradually mixed the new dog food into the old one until it was completely on top of the new material. He immediately developed bad gas and became more lethargic. It also seems to have affected his digestion, as he constantly had to go outside to go about his business during the day. He even had nighttime "accidents" around the house, which he never had a problem with. At first I thought he was just adjusting to new foods and I gave him a few months to see if he would work on his own. Outside. The nocturnal "accidents" passed, but other symptoms didn't improve during this time, and he had a new problem: he licked his paws or other parts of his fur, as if to get rid of some kind of allergy. After going through 2 packs of BB with no improvement I decided to switch to a different brand of dog food and within the first few days most if not all of the problems he was having were gone. I would not recommend this Blue Buffalo dog food. Whatever her formula, it didn't agree with my dog.
