This trainer works very well. I experimented with different levels of static electricity on my arm to know what I was being injected with. Our Boston Terrier puppy (10 months old) loves to dig and often gets overly excited and rough with our 9 year old Boxer. First I used voice commands with a beep. He has two chances before the static electricity is applied. I found that level 3 or 4 was enough to get his attention. It now only takes more than one beep of intense inappropriate activity to change its behavior. It also helped teach him to "come". He just smiled and ran away when called. LOL Now all it takes is a voice command combined with a tone/beep and he's on his way. The only reason I didn't give the trainer 5 stars is because the collar adjuster slips constantly and slightly more when worn. This renders the static aspect ineffective in our situation about 20% of the time since the sensors do not make contact. Our Boston is very active so maybe with a less active dog this isn't that much of a problem.
