Every cable I've had was a console cable with a DB9 adapter, so I had to buy a separate DB9 to serial adapter. I've had mixed experiences with these adapters over the years where about 3 out of 6 have gone bad and had to be replaced. I bought this cable as a one cable solution and it works great. I had to download the drivers separately because my Windows 10 laptop couldn't automatically detect the correct drivers. After installing the driver I checked Device Manager and found that the cable showed up as COM6 and I was able to connect normally after installing the drivers. I will be buying a few more of these travel cables as this one works well.
