Simply unzip the center main zipper, fold the fabric inside-out along the edge, and you'll reveal a thin, antique-colored metal plate with a cross-slit. You take a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew it and the entire stand + leather strap comes off. What's left is a small hole in the skin where the pawn/pillar was originally inserted, but that's no big deal - the hole doesn't need to be that big, and given how the skin works, it won't be a problem either . a gaping hole for objects to fall into.
