Review on Microplane 45004 Gourmet Black Grater by Tracy Smith

I hardly ever write a bad review, but this product deserves one. It just doesn't work. Microplane products are usually excellent - others I have are great. But this super coarse grater is worse than useless. Maybe the one I got wasn't properly sharpened, or maybe this model is poorly constructed. But instead of rubbing, it simply rips off pieces from the object you're rubbing. I tried grating carrots and ended up with carrot flakes. Also, I had to press on the carrot so hard that it broke. I haven't tried any other products, but if it worked so badly with carrots, I can't imagine it would work better with anything else. Unlike my other microplane graters that cut through food, whether it's hard or soft as butter. On the plus side, kudos to Revain for making it so easy to return this for credit. Sorry Microplane, but you'll need to go back to the drawing board (or improve your sharpening quality control) for this article.
