Review on ROCCAT Vulcan 121 AIMO Tactile Mechanical Titan Switch Full-size PC Gaming Keyboard – Black by Lawrence Reuter

I didn't buy this for gaming, just for normal daily work as I type a lot and wanted a better keyboard. The quality is evident and I expect it to last for years. The keys are very crisp, they're slightly notched so they feel nice on your finger, and the plastic feels nice. All wonderful things. I'm sure people interested in all sorts of color schemes can get whatever they want - there are many built-in options as well as full customization. All this to say that I almost packed the keyboard up and sent it back (hence the 4 stars). The keyboard worked without the Swarm software, but there was no way to turn the colors off - just dim them or turn the backlight off completely. Without the backlight, it would be very difficult to see the keycaps, so that's really not an option. After downloading Swarm and starting the installation, I needed to install some Microsoft components on my 64 win win10 machine. This is normal, but then my computer restarted without warning. Nothing installed after the reboot, so I started the process again. This time it went straight to the Swarm software (so apparently the MSFT components were complete) and it seemed to install without any problems, but once Swarm started the only option was to do a software update - and I've got the LATEST one right now available software downloaded . from their website! Swarm didn't really give me any options other than to update again, but when I did it froze and after about 5 minutes I quit the app. I tried reinstalling - ended up deleting everything and then reinstalling everything again. Once again I was given the only upgrade option. Since this has caused the problem before, I've looked online for a manual or any information - as far as I can tell there is none, and there was no information in the box other than how to install Swarm! Otherwise I went ahead and updated my software again and again the app got stuck. Luckily I got a call for about 45 minutes because the keyboard backlight was off, I couldn't use it to log in and four white lights were blinking in the bottom right corner of the keyboard. Unable to log in, I unplugged the USB stick, plugged it back in and then the keyboard worked again and I was able to log in. The screen in front of me had instructions on how to unplug and plug the keyboard in, just like it used to. did a firmware update! Undeclared. Without explaining the reason. Without manual. Without discussing sub-options about it. Roccat - if this is not entirely clear, it is not acceptable to do a silent firmware update! Please post some instructions on your website - but this is a backup plan. Swarm itself should tell users what it's doing and give a rough estimate of how long it will take. Once you've done that, installing the keyboard would be a breeze without hard resetting MSFT. PS I enjoyed writing this review. The keys feel really great and I find I type faster.
