Sometimes the subject determines the shape of what you want to draw. Although I have traditional 8x10 inch and 16x20 canvases and a wrapped canvas, my object requires a 1:1 aspect ratio and I don't need unused space outside the object. That's where these canvases come in. I first covered these canvases with a thin layer of white acrylic. Although I probably didn't have to since they come pre-primed, I like the smoother, less absorbent finish. Most canvases do not seem to me to be adequately primed. These canvases stay nice and flat and are the perfect size for me for my item. Note that I don't cover them with lots of paint all at once (like people who turn canvases), but apply paint little by little as the painting progresses.
