The movement is excellent, the battery drains fairly quickly.

Love the simple design, we used it in a closet with a very high ceiling. It was pretty easy to install, just screw it to the ceiling and then screw the fixture to the base by hand. It runs on 8 double batteries! Wow! That's a lot of juice to put something like that in these days. While I like the matte finish, this light is a bit dimmer overall than many of the LED bulbs I use around the house. The motion detection is excellent, when we open the door it is triggered immediately. When I first installed this light I had serious concerns because it was constantly flickering and out of phase like it was a dead bulb or an old shop light with a fluorescent flicker effect, but I realized I had accidentally put in a dead battery was my fault, not the light! After I put in new batteries, this light works without any problems and lights up very well. It fills the entire large closet space with light, but I wouldn't expect that to be enough for a garage, for example. Keep this in small bathrooms with a sink or in closet sized rooms. The only downside to using so many batteries to power it, which I found out after a month of use, is that every day we pull our coats out of the closet as we come in and out of the house, and the light already seems a little dimmer than when we started, enough to lead me to believe that this light is likely to drain the batteries pretty quickly. With 8 batteries I was hoping it would stay very bright for a very long time but it hasn't stayed at 100% brightness since use. By my estimates, the light intensity dropped from 100% to 75% in a month. If this ration is maintained, it's not a terrible investment and it lasts much longer in less used space, we do it daily, sometimes multiple times. However, I worry that it will misbehave again when the juice runs low, like when I had a bad battery in it. I don't know when that will happen, it could be 10% or 50% battery life. Of course I'm hoping for a better result out there. So overall I would give 4-5 stars for being a simple light that is easy to install and hide away in a simple place as the design is fairly benign but the number of batteries required and overall long term brightness will do weighed against. Number. Batteries made me deduct a few stars. I RECOMMEND this light as a decent product that works well and illuminates everything you need and I appreciate the sensitivity of the motion sensor. However, if you need a fast, inexpensive, and long-lasting battery-powered light source, you can find a solution that's a little smaller or uses a little less power. If you're looking for an essentially "big" general purpose flashlight with a really nice matte finish over the light source that creates an even, diffused glow, this light is perfect for you.
