Review on Single Mode Gigabit Ethernet Bi Directional by Quinton Dawon

Revainrating 3 out of 5

You get what you pay for.

Generally cheap fiber optic media converters made in China. They tend to lose fiber sync at least once a week and performance drops significantly from 930 Gbps to almost 10 Mbps. The only way to solve the problem is to restart one of the blocks. The user manual lists DIP switches for adjusting settings, but there are no DIP switches on the device. The behavior is unique to these devices as other, more advanced devices using the same fiber optic cable and patch cord will work just fine. As the title suggests, you get what you pay for. Update 09/09/2021: The slowdown is getting worse and is now happening multiple times a day.

Pros
  • The integrated 1310 nm single-mode fiber optic module with individual SC ports allows you to easily extend your Gigabit or Fast Ethernet network up to 20 km (12.42 miles). The compact modular design makes it easy to deploy on a narrow desk to save space.
Cons
  • unreliable
