Review on OTTOLOCK Combination Lightweight Compact Durable by Buddy Camaney

Easy to cut with metal shears

I was impressed with everything about Ottolock's marketing: fits in a pocket under a bike seat, is lightweight and REALLY difficult to cut. I never intended to trust the Ottolock off the bike for any length of time, but I did trust it when I was at a coffee shop or on a quick stopover. And I was ready to buy a second Ottolock to protect my camera bag when I read a review that said they were much easier to cut than the Ottolock videos claimed. So before I got another $80, I decided to sacrifice my first Ottolock, which is too short for most of my uses, in my own test. I was very disappointed to find out how easy it was to cut as you can see in the video. Now that I've cut one, I'm sure I can cut any ottolock in under 10 or 15 seconds with cheap scissors.

Pros
  • Not a substitute for U-LOCK. OTTOLOCK's goal is to offer an easy-to-carry solution to prevent accidental theft during quick stops with virtually zero weight. All bike locks can be picked with the right tools, technique and time. OTTOLOCK recommends double locking with high-quality U-locks such as the OTTOLOCK SIDEKICK for permanent locking and in areas at risk of theft.
Cons
  • Damaged
