Description of OTTOLOCK Combination Lightweight Compact Durable

Ideal for Quick Stops - The lightweight, compact OTTOLOCK is an innovative theft deterrent lock designed for short stops on any ride. Whether you’re grabbing a cup of coffee, taking a restroom break, or stopping for snacks, this convenient cinch lock has you covered without weighing you down. Ultralight and Portable - Proudly made in the USA, the 18” Original OTTOLOCK weighs only 145 grams (0.3 lbs); much lighter than a U-Lock. It coils down to just 3” in diameter when not in use and can easily be carried in a pocket, saddle bag, or backpack, or on your bike’s frame. Clever, Patented Design - The Original OTTOLOCK is made with three layers of stainless steel wrapped in an ultra tough Kevlar jacket that resists the cutting and sawing of many tools commonly used in opportunity theft. The band is coated in anti-scratch Santoprene plastic, which has rubber-like characteristics, to protect your bike frame and designed with a resettable 3-dial combination. Extremely Versatile - The 18” Original OTTOLOCK is the perfect length to lock a single tube to a small post or pole. In addition to bikes, use it to secure your equipment at the ski resort, for additional peace of mind while transporting gear, or even to childproof a cabinet. Not a Replacement for a U-LOCK - The intent of OTTOLOCK is to provide an easy-to-carry solution to prevent opportunistic theft during quick stops with next to no weight penalty. All bike locks can be defeated with proper tools, technique, and time. OTTOLOCK recommends redundant locking with a quality U-Lock, such as the OTTOLOCK SIDEKICK, for long duration lock-ups and in areas prone to theft.

NONE of their strap locks will stop a simple pair of scissors.

These products (and frankly most bike and door locks) should not be sold as anti-theft devices. They do nothing but get someone to pull out their scissors for 2 seconds and if all you want is something to stop someone from accidentally taking your bike off the rack why not just use a cheap lock or a bungee. LOSE YOUR MONEY IF IT MAKES YOU HAPPY :) I know people love to keep buying new things but if you have self respect and principles that you want to use for the greater good then DO NOT GO TO…

Pros
  • Intelligent, patented design. The original OTTOLOCK consists of three layers of stainless steel wrapped in a durable Kevlar jacket that is cut and saw resistant by many of the tools commonly used for accidental theft. The strap is covered in scratch-resistant Santoprene plastic, which has rubber-like properties to protect your bike frame, and features a resettable 3-dial combo.
Cons
  • So far so good

Lock error, not as intended!

Don't expect this item to save your bike unless it's with a kindergarten group The first time I used it the lock didn't work and I was able to did not solve. When I left after 2 hours I called the manufacturer. No response until the next day. Using a rotozip saw it was removed in less than 2 seconds. Contacted the manufacturer and they were told that it was against a real device that thieves would have shouldn't really be successful. Just an opportunist? Find out. I have another one that I use…

Pros
  • Ultra light and portable. Made in the USA, the original OTTOLOCK 18" weighs only 145 grams (0.3lb); much lighter than U-Lock. When not in use, it rolls up to just 3" in diameter and tucks easily into Carry it in your bag, saddlebag, backpack or bike frame
Cons
  • Trade-in

Don't even avoid locking securely - Easy to remove

I fell for the marketing lies about this device, I was hoping for a lightweight secure lock that I could use for quick stops. tried to use it, i say it's a complete piece of junk. 90% of the time when you "lock" it you can just pull it and it will unlock and you can just take the lock off the bike. Cool feature?! Also, there is evidence from a lockpicking attorney that Ottolock did nothing to make the locks more resistant to cutting with $15 metal snips.

Pros
  • Perfect for quick stops - Lightweight and compact OTTOLOCK is an innovative anti-theft lock designed for short stops on any journey. Whether you're grabbing a cup of coffee, taking a break on the bathroom, or grabbing a bite to eat, this convenient zipper keeps you going without weighing you down.
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks

Easy to cut with metal shears

I was impressed with everything about Ottolock's marketing: fits in a pocket under a bike seat, is lightweight and REALLY difficult to cut. I never intended to trust the Ottolock off the bike for any length of time, but I did trust it when I was at a coffee shop or on a quick stopover. And I was ready to buy a second Ottolock to protect my camera bag when I read a review that said they were much easier to cut than the Ottolock videos claimed. So before I got another $80, I decided to sacrifice…

Pros
  • Not a substitute for U-LOCK. OTTOLOCK's goal is to offer an easy-to-carry solution to prevent accidental theft during quick stops with virtually zero weight. All bike locks can be picked with the right tools, technique and time. OTTOLOCK recommends double locking with high-quality U-locks such as the OTTOLOCK SIDEKICK for permanent locking and in areas at risk of theft.
Cons
  • Damaged
