I used to look after my mum's puppies and used this handle as a playpen for her when I was busy and couldn't look after her (she gets naughty a lot) . It's much, much roomier than a crate; It's a decent sized playground and big enough that I can sit with her there to make her comfortable. I also have two dogs and each agreed to use them if they wanted to be alone. I fed her this to help her understand that it wasn't punishment, which also inadvertently helped her avoid other dogs' breakfasts. It is ready to use without instructions. I got a handle without a door because it was significantly cheaper than an identical handle with a door. You don't really need a door because you can simply detach one of the end panels and swing open like a door. The coating on the wire is nice. I had it on a hardwood floor with a 72" x 72" puppy blanket underneath and it worked great without scratching the floor. It folds up quickly so I can easily carry it to the office on another level if needed. Very important! The only thing I recommend is to weigh it when your dog is likely to jump up, even if it's just with excitement at seeing you. It won't tip over but it will move from its original position, I used some free weights which worked great.
